Corporate Communications Manager

The Role:

Red Hat Corporate Communications is looking for an addition to its public relations team to focus on publicity for developer-focused technologies, such as the Jboss Enterprise Middleware portfolio as well as Platform as a Service and cloud technologies . This position, located in the company's second largest US-based office in Westford, Mass., offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a cross-functional, global team to secure press coverage and grow mindshare for the company and its technologies.

Specific Duties/Primary Responsibilities:

• Writing press releases and blogs.
• Pitching news to trade and business publications to secure coverage.
• Working closely with marketing teams to develop and refine external product messaging.
• Participating as an integral member of a cross-functional team to support product launches.
• Planning and executing press conferences and webcast announcements.
• Reviewing and editing global press and marketing collateral material for consistent product messaging and writing style.
• Developing social media strategy to support mindshare gain.
• Nominating products for industry awards.
• Securing speaking opportunities for company spokespeople.
• Contributing to the larger Corporate Communications team in support of customer references, events and industry analyst relations.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in public relations/media relations/communications.
• Proven track record of securing national media coverage.
• Established media contacts in trade and/or business publications.
• Experience in technology.
• Experience focused on communicating with developer communities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Acumen for technical messages and ability to simplify for the mainstream.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with writing samples available.
• True team player with talent for developing strong relationships with internal clients and global teams as well as with external media contacts.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines.
• Approximately 20% travel
