Where do you work and what is your title?

I am the Senior Career Advisor in the Center for Career & Professional Development, at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. I have been working with this University since January 2015. I also am the Co-Founder of a counseling and coaching business called Changing Tide, out of Osterville, MA.

What is your Twitter handle?

I do not have a personal Twitter handle, but my RWU work Twitter is @RWUCareers.

Briefly summarize your background.

I have been working with individuals to set and achieve their personal, educational, and career goals for the past 4 years. I have a B.A. in Psychology, as well as a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration, from Merrimack College, in North Andover. I am an entrepreneur and a certified Job and Career Transition Coach.

What kind of industry/clients do you work with?

My primary industry is Higher Education, working with traditional aged college students. At Roger Williams University, my focus is students in the College of Arts & Sciences and the School of Justice Studies. Externally, with Changing Tide, I work with clients ranging from high school students entering college through adults in career transitions or entering into retirement. In both capacities, my counseling stems from a positive psychology and career development framework focused on the individual.

Describe what you do for Pub Club.

I am the VP of Student Membership throughout New England for the Pub Club, in charge of 2 fantastic Members at Large. As a team we promote the Pub Club and our events. Our goal is to: increase new student memberships; raise awareness by connecting with interested students and University faculty and staff; and ensure engagement in programs such as the Cavanaugh Award.

Name your top three favorite things about PR.

  1. Helping clients express themselves.
  2. Bringing an idea or program to the masses.
  3. Everything is always changing, which keeps me on my toes and excited about each project.

Do you have a childhood moment when everyone knew you’d be a communications specialist?

I think my entire childhood was preparation. I grew up as an only child, talking with adults about every possible topic. Therefore I was (and am) extremely extroverted and always loved public speaking about all topics.

What is your top getaway destination?

Perugia, Italy! After going abroad to Perugia during college, my mind and heart constantly wander back to this breathtaking city in the center of Italy. I have another pilgrimage planned for June 2017!

If you could take a client to any restaurant in Boston where would you go?

Since you can’t go wrong with Italian food in the North End or seafood in Boston, I would have to say Mare. Who wouldn’t want a gnocchi and fruitti di mare blend??
