Get To Know Your Board Member: Emily Lospennato, Member at Large

Where do you work and what is your title?

I’m the Associate Director of Public Relations at New England Law | Boston, an independent law school in the heart of Boston.

What is your Twitter handle?

@elospennato

Briefly summarize your background.

I’ve worked at various public relations agencies in Boston, most recently as an account manager at Version 2.0 Communications. Because of my love for the higher education clients I worked with at V2, I made the decision this summer to make the move in-house and kick off the next phase of my career in education marketing.

What kind of industry/clients do you work with?

My background is mainly in enterprise IT and higher education. Now it’s legal education, all day every day!

Describe what you do for Pub Club.

I just joined the Pub Club this Fall so still working on finding my niche on the board. I going to be more involved with events and social media in the near future!

Name your top three favorite things about PR.

The moment a reporter responds to a pitch with a “yes” – it NEVER gets old!

Failure – it makes the successes even sweeter

Chaos – though I have a love/hate relationship with hectic days, those are the times I feel most challenged and rewarded by what I do

Do you have a childhood moment when everyone knew you’d be a communications specialist?

There is a homemade (VHS) out there of me talking very seriously on my play phone when I was about three to a mysterious person (a client, perhaps). The conversation went something like this: “Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay? Bye.”

What is your top getaway destination?

Ogunquit, Maine is one of my favorite places on earth.

If you could take a client to any restaurant in Boston where would you go?

Scampo at the Liberty Hotel
