Holiday Gift Giving Ideas for PR Professionals

Holiday Gift
It’s that time of the year again! The holidays are here and while you are thinking about gifts for family and friends, don’t forget your professional network as well.

We asked our board members the following question: what is the ideal gift for your marketing communications and PR colleagues this holiday season?

Here are our ideas, from those that make us more productive, to those that add a bit of humor to the busy work day. So whether you’re a PR professional looking to recognize a team member or colleague, or simply looking to buy yourself an end of the year gift, we’re here to help.

Even in this electronic/digital world, PR people still need a professional-looking notebook for staffing meetings and interviews. Finding a notebook that goes further, like this Arc notebook, allows allows for the PR person to customize the paper type, dividers, tools, and even add a zippered pocket.

Fingerless Gloves

NOVAWO Women's Hand Crochet Winter Warm Fingerless Arm Warmers Gloves
Available via Amazon.com

Whether you have a press release just about to go out on the wire, or you are scheduling an interview with the New York Times, you always need your hands to be, well, handy. PR pros are constantly writing, texting and calling, and that doesn’t just stop when they leave the office! Fingerless gloves the perfect gift for any PR pro who has things to do but also wants to be cozy.

For all those marketing communications and PR colleagues working in the ever-popular open office setting, I’d give the “busy” desk flag. In lieu of a door, this flag can politely notify colleagues when someone is actually available for interruption rather than knee deep in a complicated press release draft or marketing plan.

Starbucks Gift Cards

I always give gift cards to Starbucks – the virtual ones are even better. All PR pros live on coffee, and when things get particularly hectic in the 4th quarter and 2018 planning, it’s more necessary than ever. Not to mention, with all the client meetings and events that take place towards the end of the year, it’s nice to be able to grab a cup of coffee on the go.

Go Away. I’m on a deadline. T-Shirt

Go Away. I'm on a deadline. T-Shirt
Available via Zazzle.com

This gift is originally an idea from my colleague,Ryan Young, Associate Director at KoMarketing that I adapted for this post. Anyone who’s held to strict deadlines can relate. Rather than telling people to leave them alone, PR professionals can toss on this shirt and make it loud and clear work needs to get done!

Final Thoughts

Show your follow PR and marketing professionals how much they mean to you by purchasing them a gift they can use while doing what they love.

Have some other ideas and suggestions? We’d love to hear them. Feel free to add your thoughts on Twitter or our new LinkedIn group. Happy Holidays!
